Introduction
This policy covers Griot Communications Copywriting & Content Solutions (https://griotcomms.com), a London-based freelance content marketing consultancy for small non-profits. Within this document ‘We’ and ‘Us’ will refer to Griot Communications, as denoted previously.

CONTACT INFORMATION
We collect your email address when you register to join our mailing list. We will hold it in our email service provider, Mailchimp. We send regular emails with links from around the web, links to our blog, and information about our services.
If you wish to stop receiving our email, you can do so at any time by entering your email address and selecting Unsubscribe.
We also collect your email address and phone number when you complete our contact form to enquire about our services.
YOUR IP ADDRESS
We collect your IP address via Google Analytics to generate aggregated, anonymised data for the purposes of internal reporting, insight and analysis, enabling us to improve our site, the services we offer and search results for our site.
Google Analytics gives us anonymous, sampled data about your interactions with our website, such as pages visited, how long you spent on the site, the website from which you came to visit our site, and your location provided by your IP address.
Additional information that you submit to us directly or through Third Party Services (eg Facebook) if you use a Third Party Service to create an Account (based on your privacy settings with such Third Party Service).
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Cookies

Mailchimp – Mailchimp provides our email marketing service, and we use their service to store your email address and any other information you have provided when signing up to our emails, such your name and your job title.
The personal information you enter when registering on our site or that we collect when you use our site is confidential and except in the circumstances mentioned below, we will not disclose it to any third party.
The data of Griot Communications Copywriting & Content Solutions shall not be sold to third parties. We shall not share or pass on any personal information without your explicit consent, unless:
- We are legally obligated to do so
- We are fulfilling contractual services for the Griot Communications client and/or in order to enforce rights and obligations of these terms of use and the corresponding contractual relationship between the Griot Communications client and Griot Communications.
How long we retain your data
Unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law, we will only hold your personal information on our systems for the period necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy or until you request it is deleted.
If, having registered for email updates, you do not open them for one year (which indicates you no longer want to read or receive our emails), we may contact you to ensure you’re still happy to receive communications from us. If you do unsubscribe, we will retain your data only to ensure you do not receive further communications from us.
What rights you have over your data
If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Under data protection legislation, you have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you and to have any inaccuracies corrected. We will use reasonable efforts to supply, correct or delete personal information about you on our files.
Information must be provided by us without delay and at the latest within one month of receipt.

All the data is being stored on secured, GDPR compliant Cloud Servers based in the United Kingdom via our web consultant Myhostewebsite.
